Toronto bass music trio Keys N Krates have been keeping busy lately; after finishing a wild summer festival circuit, the boys hopped on their bus and kicked off a massive U.S. tour with support from gLAdiator and Thugli. The tour is in honor of the group’s third official EP release, Every Nite, which is set to be released September 23rd on Dimmak Records. To keep the hype train rolling, they’ve released the EP’s second single, ‘Understand Why’.
Following hot on the heels of ‘Are We Faded?’, ‘Understand Why’ undeniably expands on the iconic sound that Keys N Krates have developed over the last few years. A genre-defying blend of wonky distorted vocals, crisp percussion, and haunting melodies, the track knocks and stutters until it’s deep inside your head. The breakdown in the middle is especially well done, taking that 90’s synth-pop vibe and catapulting it into a modern, bass driven setting.
