The MS Stubnitz is a traveling German fishing boat that docks at European port cities, functioning primarily as a venue for music and art events. Sadly, the party cruiser is in need of class renewal, and is docked in Hamburg for the time being after canceling the performances of Snoop Dogg and Orbital, among others, back in 2012.
The renewal process requires that the vessel be housed on a dry dock while undergoing inspections and refurbishment of underwater fittings, propellers, and rudders, as well as new paint. This will grant the ship another 5 years of operation, but is highly expensive. That’s a problem, since the ship is operated by The MS Stubnitz Association, a non-profit run by a group of volunteers. To this end, a crowd-funding campaign has been launched. From their Nordstarter page:
A significant deposit, required by the dry dock, will be financed through a short-term loan. The crew hopes that a broader stakeholder community is prepared to make a financial contribution to the conservation of this cultural venue. In order to maintain the Stubnitz as an event ship and maritime monument, your support is needed.
The crowd-funding campaign has currently raised €11,000 out of a targeted €50,000. We encourage you to donate on their Nordstarter page if you want to help save this storied ship!
