Out now on Your EDM Records, Ron Reeser‘s massive house anthem ‘Boomerang‘ is surely a chart-killer. Winding synths and a rising melbourne bounce-esque drop accompany clean production and a fitting title in this banger. We had a chance to sit down with with the man behind the music.
How and when did you get into electronic music?
Back in 1998 when it was still underground and warehouse parties were the cool thing. It was really the only place you could listen to “House or Techno Music.” That’s when I fell in love with the vibe and the scene.
Who are your biggest influences?
I tend to gravitate towards Artists and Producers that really take more of a musical approach to there production. These types of songs seem to crossover and connect with a larger audience while maintaining a longer shelf life. Artists like Calvin Harris, Kaskade, Audien, Blinders, DubVision, Kryder and Ummet Ozcan are a few of my influences at the moment.
What has been your most career defining moment so far?
I don’t think Ive actually hit that point in my career yet. I feel like my story is still unfolding. Iv’e had some really high points in my career and accomplishments like signing with Ultra Music or projects on Interscope, Columbia and Sony to name a few. I feel like there’s much more to do before I hit that defining moment. I’m excited for what the future holds.
What are you hoping to achieve in the next year?
A bit more touring overseas and a possible residency in Vegas.
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?
Would love to collaborate with Coldplay, Empire of the Sun, Ellie Goulding, Matthew Koma or Sia to name a few.
Tell us about “Boomerang”, releasing August 28th. What did you like most about producing this single?
I was inspired over the summer with the Melbourne Bounce sound, and since it’s a bit different from my usual progressive house stuff, I really wanted to challenge myself and see where my creativity took me and Boomerang was born.
Where do you see the electronic music scene going in the next few years?
It’s definitely at a high point right now, but I think its only going to keep growing and getting bigger then it already is. Music styles will continue to evolve and change as the scene grows.
Any artists on the rise you would recommend?
I’m digging this new skool Oliver Heldens, Tchami, Duke Dumont sound right now. It’s like this pumpin’ deep house, yet vibey and different. It’s a nice alternative to the big room house and a fresh approach to dance music.
Do you have any advice for up and coming artists?
These days its more then just being a “DJ” now. I feel like the market is really saturated at the moment so you really have to bring more to the table as an Artist, something unique. Not only is it important to hone you’re craft in the studio, but you also have to be somewhat of a marketing genius and social network ninja. We live in a digital age and have access to many different platforms to help us get ahead of the game. Music is always evolving in this industry, so be open to change and have lots of patience. Be consistent with you’re output as an Artist and with enough persistence and drive things will eventually happen…
