If you’ve never heard of Canadian bred Brooklyn transplant, M!NT, then you’ll be very happy you’re reading this right now. He started his musical career by teaching himself how to play multiple instruments by the age of 14 and has been making moves in a big way ever since.
His latest release, a soulful trap flip of B-Riddimz‘ ‘Rookerie Ruins’, perfectly highlights the producer’s varied talents and versatile style. There are a lot of separate elements contained within the track, a lot of moving parts that play their own role at first and are then fused together by M!NT‘s expert composition. He gets right to the point, too; after the sub-30 second intro, you’re catapulted straight into the thick of the track. And trust us, once you’re in there among the thumping 808’s, glitchy vocal chops, and melodic synthesis, you won’t ever be looking back.
With ‘Rookerie Ruins’ following the release of his debut music video ‘Flashlights’, it’s safe to say that M!NT is on a roll that won’t be stopping any time soon. As if this remix wasn’t enough to convince you, he’ll be releasing his sophomore EP, Pay it Forward, later this fall. On top of that, he’s working on dates for a West Coast tour, including four extra special performances at Burning Man. In the meantime, though, check out the stream of ‘Rookerie Ruins’ below and grab the free download if you’re feelin’ the vibes!
