Scottish collective Ray just created an unnecessarily large version of the Roland TR-909. Built in honor of the 909’s 30th Birthday, this functioning giant piece of hardware not only plays music, but can also be synced with custom visuals. It is amazing to think that after 30 years, innovation can still be applied to one of the fundamental building blocks that created the modern era of computer generated sound. The giant Roland will be on display at both Green Man and Bestival and you will be able to play with it yourself. Check out the video below and see how it’s done:
