If you’ve recently been on twitter you must have caught wind of a rather unbelievable event. Pictures have been circulating, tweets have been tweeted and short horribly shaky videos have been posted. That’s right Daft Punk, the mysterious French duo, apparently performed at Ushuaia Ibiza according to a series of rather credible sources. Avicii’s manager Ash Pournouri and Damian Pinto, otherwise known as the voice of Ultra, both shared pictures and tweeted on the matter. Now it’s entirely possible that this is a rather elaborate troll put in place by Ushuaia and the two above sources, but considering that Daft Punk’s “Human After All” remix album was released today, it is possible that the duo’s performance is part of their marketing tactic to promote the revisited LP. The duo performed during Ushuaia Ibiza’s “ANTS” event which listed Pleasurekraft, Simon Baker, and Tube & Berger as its headliners.
This would be the first time that the duo has performed in front of a live audience, other than at the Grammys, in the past 4 years. The last time Daft Punk made an appearance on stage was back in 2010 with Phoenix at Madison Square Garden, where sadly they only performed during the encore. We can only hope, that if this is indeed the famed duo, that this could indicate the possibility of more performances or a tour. It is unlikely but one can dream.
We’re still awaiting official confirmation on the matter but for now we’ll share with you all the pictures available. Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comment section below.
