Last year, there was the idea that Space, Ibiza’s crown jewel club, would come overseas to New York, but that didn’t happen. This year, specifically in September, we will see that plan pull through. Announced via Facebook, the mega club is excited to expand their reach to the US, even deeming New York the “greatest city on Earth.” New Yorkers, tourists and anybody in the surrounding areas need not fret; given that the opening date is so close, you can be sure they waited until everything was in order before any sort of announcement was made. USA get ready!
As for Space Ibiza, they will be continuing residencies by Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, as well as their Sunday event We Love. Ibiza has been a major center for electronic music, although nowadays top DJs say otherwise. Maybe this will freshen things up for them, especially given all the rising talent that is coming out of New York (I’m looking at you Prince Fox, Modern Machines, LUCA LUSH, Choppa Dunks and Infuze). Once September rolls around we will have an idea of just how influential this place can be in the United States electronic music scene.
