As I sit here I’m in utter hysterics hitting the play button repeatedly on Youtube, there are air molecules vibrating around my eardrums generated from my headphones which are plugged into my laptop routing an audio signal from Atlantic Records Youtube channel. Behind this semi-confusing explanation there is a story to tell; we’ve all by now heard that the very popular pre-Y2K cartoon “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” is making a comeback in the 21st century, yeah we’ve all seen the trailer, but did you hear the theme song?
What do you get when you add three big name rappers that define our Hip-hop/ rap culture generation with two EDM artists of this generation that define Dance music in general? “Shell Shocked“! While Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa have verses for days about “popping pills” and getting on “that level”, when they team up with the guy that has made a name for himself by producing heavily processed growls to scare the children, Jake as in Kill The Noise, you get a killer theme song that turns any person sitting idle at a computer screen staring at internet memes simultaneously listening to this collaboration into an instant hype man or woman.
Shell Shocked was uploaded onto Atlantic Records Youtube channel this past Monday and features Kill The Noise and Madsonik influences while maintaining a pop culture beat that Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa and Ty Dolla $ign can spit verses on. With sick synths and awesome vocals that aren’t classic Juicy J but kid friendly, this collaboration has been on repeat throughout the entirety of this article and will remain there for another two, maybe three times after I finish. Needless to say, whether you dislike one or multiple names on that roster, you have to respect the quality. Each person plays their part, and as a whole, the five of them make for a killer collaboration that ultimately serves as marketing tool to go see the movie, which swayed me to go indefinitely.
