After Swedish House Mafia separated ways, Steve Angello has been working on his solo album called Wild Youth. Although the full album comes out in the fall, the album’s lead single — “Wasted Youth” — has been released today.
The track features vocals by Dougy from The Temper Trap — a collaboration inspired by Angello to “find a great balance between dance and indie… to create that moment where it’s about the melodies and the songs.” Earlier this year, Angello expressed the need for producers to diversify their sound: “I think it’s really important for dance music today to become creative again, rethink and not just repeat yourself over and over again, like a lot of producers do.” And “Wasted Youth” definitely delivers something different through the vocal timbre and instrumentation of strings and guitars.
