Copyright infringement knows no bounds. TMZ has reported that Ultra Records filed a lawsuit against Michelle Phan, a popular make up tutorial star, for using some of deadmau5 and Kaskade’s tracks in her tutorial videos. And to top it off, they are asking for 100% OF THE PROFITS she made from the videos, clearly going under the assumption that people watch her channels just to hear Ultra Records music. The videos in question have racked up over 150 million plays on youtube and Ultra wants it all.
A greedy claim by Ultra Records, they are demanding that Michelle reveal how much money she made from the videos and then fork it all over to them. Beware of sampling any Ultra Records track because they will do everything in their power to take every penny from you.
Kaskade was not to thrilled upon learning the news:
File under “For Real?”: @MichellePhan being sued by @ultrarecords for my favorite…copyright infringement.

And the kicker..they’re citing her using my songs for the suit. Come. On.
