Well, the nominees for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards have officially been announced, and unsurprisingly, some prominent dance music artists have made the cut. Along with names like Beyonce and Eminem who lead the list of nominees with 8 and 7 respectively are videos such as DJ Snake’s Turn Down For What up for Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects. Disclosure‘s Grab Her is also nominated as well as Zedd‘s Stay the Night, Calvin Harris‘ Summer, and Martin Garrix‘s Animals. French techno artist Gesaffelstein’s “Hate or Glory” is up for Best Cinematography, and Avicii is nominated with Hey Brother up for Best Video with a Social Message, and Wake Me Up as Best Pop Award, showcasing the crossover that dance music is making into the pop realm.
