High Number Of Drug-Related Arrests At The Hudson Project

Hudson ProjectSaugerties, New York was the home of The Hudson Project this past weekend.  The inaugural year brought a slew of challenges for MCP Presents, including violent weather that forced the festival to close early, canceling the performances of BassnectarPaper Diamond, and Infected Mushroom, among others.

Over the course of the weekend, 42 drug-related arrests were made at or around the festival, as reported by The Daily Freeman.  The majority of these charges were for possession of a controlled substance, as well as possession of marijuana.

Many festivalgoers noticed increased security, and these numbers seem to agree.  There has been some debate as to whether MCP’s response to Sunday’s storm resulted in an increased number of attendees being targeted by police. However, over 80 percent of these incidents occurred on Saturday.  A source from Do Androids Dance reported:

The officers were state troopers and most of the arrests were happening at the gates.  They had two security points, one at the main entrance to the whole thing and then another from that area into the music zone.  They actually had a judge on site, so what they were doing was arresting people for minor possession charges, taking them to the judge, having their little case heard and paying the fine and then they were released.

As always, be safe and be smart!
