Jordan Suckley & Paul Webster – HELP! (Future Disciple Remix) [Damaged Recordings]

A few months ago, we reviewed a blisteringly fierce collaboration by Tech Trance kings Paul Webster and Jordan Suckley entitled HELP! and it was a track that dominated many sets throughout the 140 artists at the ASOT 650 celebrations, which was also first debuted by Simon Patterson during his closing set in Moscow, Russia. Now, four months later, Jordan has unveiled three stunning new reworks by label regulars XGenic and Daniel Skyver, as well as a unique interpretation by Future Disciple. Mainly, the Hard Trance influenced remix by XGenic has been receiving all the buzz by all the major artists, but I personally find the Future Disciple remix to be the most interesting in terms of concepts and ideas, as he truly created a remix in the sense that they took the Original and created something completely different, (whilst utilizing the same sounds). Future Disciple is a very cunning artist within the Trance scene, as his inclusively overarching productions encompass the golden Tech years of Sander van Doorn and Michael Woods with heavy doses of Techno and Psy Trance that’s infused with his ever changing sound. He has been supported by many of the highest international artists and is a frequent favorite on Paul Oakenfold‘s Perfecto Fluoro Recordings and Solarstone‘s Pure Trance label. Now, Future Disciple works his wondrous magic on HELP! and creates a gritty, nonsensical rework that seeks to shatter any and all genre boundaries that are placed in his way.

Now, truth be told, I am an absolute sucker when it comes to this music, and with good reason. This type of Progressive House is forward thinking to the max as the mass conglomeration of unusual sounds and ideas are melded together with such precision and balance that each piece can accurately be described as a laborious work of art. And this remix is no different. While the Original was focused on Psy induced Electro lines and extensive inflections of techy, Coming Soon type elements, Future Disciple has slowed things down to a reserved yet, focused 128BPM and incorporates those gritty basslines into a deliciously groovy Techno backdrop. Along with heaping slabs of sixteenth note tech designs, the inclusion of futuristic tribal bells adds a beautiful touch and softens the otherwise grating beginning. As the addition of offbeat rhythms strike at the core of the otherwise stable opening, subtle, yet searing, rising synths smoothly raise the beginning into the breakdown with little to no effort whatsoever. The breakdown is completely different from the crunchy beginning, as soft, silk laden pads and heavenly voices float the listener into a moment of stasis as wisps of Egyptian sounding oboes and tribal bells gently cross the mind in blissful silence. Finally, he decides to incorporate an unusual Arabic melody on to of the pre-existing drop and also plays around with intricate acidic lines for an amazing experience of different styles and textures, all underneath one, unified, driving force of music.

Future Disciple‘s remix of Paul Webster & Jordan Suckley‘s HELP! is now available on Damaged Recordings via Beatport, so make sure you purchase a copy and support real talent! Also make sure to check out the XGenic and Daniel Skyver remixes as well!
