We have always had a soft spot for Far Too Loud. The UK-based producer always delivers with his unique brand of heavy hitting, monstrously funky electro, and he is back with his latest single, ‘Boom!’ released on No Tomorrow Recordings on July 7th. FTL takes the opportunity to explore new musical territories and switches up his style a little on this one. Packed with samples and an almost military series of riffs, there are nods to big room alongside a trance-inspired euphoric breakdown. We got speaking to the heavy hitting dance floor weapons expert about his expanding sound.
‘Boom!’ is out now! Were you excited for it to finally be released? How have you found the response so far?
It’s been a while since my last release, so yes it is exciting. The public response to the teaser was mixed, some people were like “No no, he’s made a big room track!”, others were like “Yes yes, he’s made a big room track!” I make music; some people like it, some people don’t, the world goes on. It’s had a great response when I’ve played it out, so I’m happy. 
It is a slightly different style to what you usually make. How do you feel you’ve developed as an artist? You’ve tried your hand at many different sounds now.
What I produce is a reflection of what I play in my sets and what I feel gets people going in clubs, so I develop with the scene. I enjoy the challenge of trying out different things and want to make music that’s relevant to now.
‘Boom!’ is released on No Tomorrow Records, Never Say Die’s sister label. How do the two labels differ?
Whilst NSD is pretty much straight up dubstep, No Tomorrow is more focused on varied styles.
How have you found your time working with both labels? Do you get to see many of the other artists on the roster?
Only occasionally at shows really. But they’re a talented group, and really down to earth on the management side.
What music do you have the most fun making?
Still electro house, in all its forms!
What plans have you got for the rest of the year? Any shows you’re looking forward to?
I’m most looking forward to some outdoor festival sets. I’m on my way to the USA as I write this, looking forward to some festivals out there, Big Liberty, then up to Canada for Valhalla Sound Circus and Astral Harvest. Then it’ll be back to UK and Europe for some more including Noisily, Beatherder, Let It Roll and Uplands. Also a South Africa visit at the end of the summer for Grietfest will be awesome. On the music side I’ve been trying to focus a bit more on collabs this year. I’ve got two done and about to start a third, you’ll be hearing those soon.
What about for the further future? Any big projects in the pipeline?
I’m working on a bigger release for the end of this year. Stay tuned!
