Zeds Dead and Mad Decent team up again for another reputable project with the Something Else EP. Aside from two previously released singles, the project has six other originals, including collaborations with Big Gigantic, Bright Lights, Omar LinX, Memorecks, Twin Shadow, D’Angelo Lacy, Sean Price and the musical mastermind Perry Farrell. I was more impressed by this EP than the free bundle they released yesterday; although, I wasn’t blown away by it either, until the end.
From a vibey opener with “Collapse” to the two re-releases back to back is an interesting way to start things off. Then you are met with “Bustamove” at #4, which is another deep house song; however, I enjoy “Lost You” more so. The next record, “Stoned Capone,” as well as “Dead Price” happen to be my favorite tracks on the album and they are both essentially rap records. “Where Are You Now” is up there too; I always always always will like when Bright Lights sings on a dubstep record and the instrumental is just as epic. The second half of the EP comes on a bit better and it closes things out with some gold. Perry Ferrell in an electronic production should be no surprise and the fact that it’s dank should be no surprise either. Grab the EP through iTunes below to support the Mad Decent duo.
