Back in December 2013, Mixify launched Clubcast, a platform for DJs and fans to interact via live-stream. Through Clubcast’s HD audio and video, fans and DJs can connect with each other as DJs play exclusive sets from anywhere in the world. Lately, the company has been garnering increased attention from the media for its innovative way to let fans and DJs experience a live show, and last week Mixify raked in $1.8 million in funding, with investments from Tommy Trash (who headlined Mixify’s first multi-city Clubcast in April), Ministry of Sound Australia‘s Tim McGee and Richard Mergler and Australian investment firm CMB Capital‘s Jamie Olsen.
David Moricca, founder of Mixify, states: “Clubcast is the next frontier in live events for the music industry — for fans, artists and venues. With Clubcast’s technology, we are not only breaking geographic barriers, but also creating a way for artists to reach new markets and for venues to maximise their offerings to party goers, while adding new streams of revenue to their businesses.”
The unique interactive experience has potential to expand into the international market, especially in Asia where the demand for DJs is high. “In many cases we’re doing booking of a big-name DJ as part of the service. It works particularly well for markets where they don’t have the market to support booking for these acts or the access,” Moricca explains. With hopes of reaching audiences in cities like Hong Kong and Asia, “The focus is really on growing Clubcast sales and marketing — particularly on the international level. It’s about them growing the brand and growing the sales pipeline.”
