Land Of The Free Downloads

Free

Free, a word that gets everybody’s ears all perked up anytime it manages to make its way out of somebody’s mouth. It’s a word that is supposed to describe America; and although this package of freebies may not come from distinctly American artists, their open generosity in giving is something that many in this nation need a lesson in. However, you guys aren’t here for a lecture on social matters. No, you are here for music. So with that, this vast land of freebies is in honor of that one word this generation is looking to truly live out: Free.

Starting things off with some deep house is never a bad idea, especially if it’s coming from Sebastian Carter. He’s no stranger to us and he better not be for you. His lush beats are simply superb; his latest, in the form of a remix of “Be There,” is no exception. The progression from beginning to end is a fantastic, moving from phrase to phrase like levels in a video game with a different arrangement of elements to experience.

You may recognize the name Keegan Tawa, but the style of “Everything We Need” may throw you off in cahoots with that artist. He is gifted in house, but his latest original, which features singer Kelly Letter, is a chilled out progressive production. Much like the previous track, it’s a mystifying seven minute journey. If you are looking for some sweet vibes, then look no further, because this single is oozing with them.

King Peanuts has been running the trap from Portugal for a while. He continues to hone his craft which has resulted in the “Wild” collaboration with BxxMvx. A dark setting is presented in the intro that turns into thugged out heater after a hip-hop vocal sample leads the drop. It has a lot of subtle qualities that make this extremely fun to listen to. There are many elements laden within the arrangement, but the combinations are ever changing.

Providing for some of the moombahton that we have here today, Monsieur-Manuel has his remix of “Work Out” that he turned into a latin jam. I couldn’t think of a better way to have remixed this single; the sexy vibe is kept, and even amplified by the electronic production that the Texan delivered. The choice to use vocal cuts as one of the main elements was one of my favorite things he did with the track. Nothing better than sensual lyrics and a fat dembow beat. Mmm.

It’s summer time, school’s over, so many of you are itching for a party. RyanOtter provides his own with his new original “Shave Your Shit.” His electro/big room sound has been progressing more towards the latter recently, but he manages to keep things fresh with the addition of the various bass wobbles. Prepare yourself for the drop, because you go from silence to BOOM! in a matter of a second. This is a part of Ryan’s monthly free releases, so expect another freebie next month!

The Mob has been pushing out unique free downloads for about a month now. Moduloktopus was the latest artist to be backed by the collective with his original “Jepetto.” I am absolutely in love with the acoustic instrumentation that the Boston resident animated in this production and the electronic parts are just as satisfying, or even more so. Think diversity, because this one will take you to numerous places through out your four and a half minute ride. And there’s a cat’s meow in it, lovely!

Justin Luke continues to wow the Your EDM crew, this time with “Diablo,” an energetic house cut who’s old school groove has me moving all day. With how dope this track is, I find it hard to believe it has the amount of plays it does. It’s minimal, but there’s just no escaping the devilishly good time this single conjures inside you. This is one of my favorite singles from the bunch even though I happen to be more into styles of bass music and aggressive house. I just can’t deny the energy!

Bringing an industrial edge to “Megalodon” comes Debroka, who’s view on the original has me at a loss for words. They turned this from a Shy Guy to Bowser in an instant and I couldn’t be more ecstatic about it. The hardstyle/big room drop hits and it’s so grungy. From there you are taken to another climax and then left in ruin by the fat trap explosion. I was hesitant when I saw what he was remixing, but after listening, I sternly approve.

Skellism are on the move and their latest remix of “Gold Skies” with Instant Party! happens to beat out the original in my opinion. There’s something about this melody in this form that is perfect to ring in the positive vibes of the summer. You’re uplifted into the divine skies above and left there to enjoy heavenly forms of sound pressure that beat against your ear drums.

You know I have to end things with more moombahton. Coming to the rescue is Choppa Dunks and Mozes who’s “Freakython” will get your booty shaking in no time. Choppa is familiar with the genre, whether he takes things a more traditional route or otherwise, yet the jungle remains. The crisp production by these two has me going on a moombah spree that will probably last throughout the week. Deem it a “Freakython” because this will play a huge part in it.
