Noisestorm – Breakdown VIP [Monstercat]

Fans of Monstercat will likely tell you that three artists in particular get so much hype when they release that the internet implodes: Ephixa, Tristam, and Noisestorm. Though, I might be just a tad biased on that last one after hearing his newest track released today.

Noisestorm released the monstrous dubstep hit ‘Breakdown’ exactly two years ago today. According to their press release, “Now two years later, to celebrate both the beauty of ‘Breakdown’ as well as to commemorate the amazing strides both Noisestorm and Monstercat have made in the two years since, our man Eoin [Noisestorm] has turned the original on its head into a high octane drum & bass VIP version.”

Since hearing the track early yesterday, I have been playing it nonstop. As it progresses from drumstep to pseudo-trap to drum & bass I can’t help but be amazed at the incredible versatility and production that Noisestorm demonstrates in his latest release. Initially attempting to emulate influences such as The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim, he has since evolved and developed a style all his own.

And just as a point of personal surrender, I’m a die-hard Pendulum fan and often refer to Rob Swire’s mix of Witchcraft as some of the best drumstep around. However, I was thoroughly taken aback and awed by ‘Breakdown VIP’ and forced to pass the title on. Listen to the full release below, and please – turn up the volume, turn up the bass, and take a seat.
