Often regarded as one of the best Uplifting producers of the new generation, the legendary Trance producer that is Will Atkinson is tapering off a blistering hot streak from 2013. His recent singles of Isolator, Unknown Lifeform and Hermosa have been constantly hammered by many of the world’s top DJ’s and his beautiful Gold remix of Aly & Fila‘s Where To Now is currently a running contender for best Uplifting track of 2014. However, unlike most Uplifting artists, Atkinson is also at the forefront of sound innovation with the onslaught of his Darkboy insignia, an alter alias that has turned the Trance world upside down with its brash, unadulterated risk taking and experimentation. Beginning in 2012, the Darkboy alias was an alternate venue in which to focus on completely specialized genres such as Psy Trance and J00F inspired Trance. His last release was the massive Psy Breaks smasher, Damage, and it was constantly unleashed by leading artists such as Indecent Noise, Sean Tyas and Paul Oakenfold. Now, Darkboy returns with the outrageous, jaw dropping Atkinsane, which promises to be one of the best constructed tracks of 2014.

While listening for the first time, it’s almost like stumbling onto a dance record for the first time without any prior knowledge in the first place. It’s weird, cool, dancey and is chock full of mysticism and intrigue. Just when you think you have this piece figured out, Will flips the track on its head with another left field sound component and completely elbows you in the face with pure, aesthetic spite. From warbling, time distorting synths to sudden, twinkling triplets, it is an exhilarating single that not only keeps you on your toes but also manages to keep the ‘dance’ element of dance music in full swing. Industrial war trumpets and factory whirls swirl and surround the breakdown as the constant repeating bassline continues growing and growing with rapid, accelerated growth. The last release is simply too much to handle, as the floodgates fully burst with explosive, shrapnel riddled basslines and gargantuous amounts of raw power to completely hammer you to the floor with one swift, steel toed kick to the testicles. This is not your heart-filled Trance track and you’ll be battered to a bloody pulp before Atkinsane is over.
