Although HBO‘s new EDM comedy series Higher isn’t completed yet, it’s on its way to being ready for us to consume. In an interview with In The Mix, the screenwriter Irvine Welsh gave a little background on the project. Aside from admitting he hopes Calvin Harris is in charge of the music, he tells about what direction they are taking the project and what we can expect. With this project largely in the hands of Welsh, a seasoned writer that understands just how raw things can get, you can bet the portrayal of dance culture will be carried out veraciously.
“It’s a comedy about the rise of a DJ through the world of electronic dance music, from humble origins to becoming a superstar DJ…The idea’s to make it very character-driven as well – you’ve got [touchstones] like Human Traffic and Project X and that kind of territory, and Entourage is another one too; you know, about the people that are around them.”
