When I hear something that I can’t quite classify because it’s just so damn wild, I put it in a very special file: Genre Bending Future Sh*t (GBFS). SAYER‘s latest track ‘No Eyed Deer’ got placed there immediately and, with one listen, you’ll see why. The Oakland beat-freak goes in on this one, starting the track off with a juke inspired intro and crescendoing into a minimal trap breakdown chock full of bone-crushing 808s and loopy synth shenanigans. As if that wasn’t enough, he truly earns his GBFS badge by adding a grinding dose of midrange to the second drop, giving the song a distinctly purple vibe.
SAYER is giving this one out as a free download via 710 Records, so check it out below and be sure to pick up a copy if you’re feelin’ the wildness. And if you’re wondering what to do this weekend, come out and catch SAYER and many more at Emissions: West Coast Bass Culture!
