Damn. I certainly wasn’t expecting moombah to come out of my speakers after clicking play for “Eparrei,” an upcoming song from Fatboy Slim‘s compilation album Bem Brasil. With Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike in the mix too, I was thinking house, yet insatiable Latin sounds at a much lower tempo than 128 came pouring out. Someone who you can guarantee had a major role in this was Diplo, who is no stranger to the sub-genre that he has largely pushed in multiple projects of his. You can feel the dembow beat bump, creating a groove you just can’t resist to dance to. There hasn’t been too much really good, heavy mambo style tracks in a while, so it’s quite refreshing to hear this being put out. I so hope there is more music like this on Bem Brasil, which will exclusively feature Brazil inspired tunes from acts like Carl Cox, Felguk and Gregor Salto.
