Looks like that random white guy you see everywhere, Diplo, is going to be in another place soon: television. Specifically on VH1 and Palladia, Diplo will host the new show “Soundclash” whose executive producer happens to be the fellow Philadelphian Questlove from The Roots. The show will take three musical acts from various backgrounds and put them on one stage to work together to perform covers, as well as each other’s music. The show premieres on July 23rd with the inaugural artists being Lil Wayne, Fallout Boy and London Grammar.
With the second episode, the Brit Ed Sheeran will be accompanied by Sia and Grouplove for what may be an even more interesting collection than the first. With the show in the hands of two musical heavyweights and a roster of all star contributors, I think this show is gonna be extremely worthwhile. The openness to experience other styles of music is something a lot of people need and I hope this show is able to unlock that door for people.
