After bursting onto the scene with his remix of “Wonder” by Adventure Club (which won the remix contest by the way), Luke Shay is back, this time with a masterfully crafted remix of the progressive house anthem “Colors” by Tritonal and Paris Blohm. The remix starts out nice and slow with a mesmerizing intro featuring uplifting synths and piano parts that build up and drop into one of the catchiest melodies I’ve heard in a long time; infectious would be the understatement of the century.
Luke Shay’s signature flute-like synths serve as the driving force throughout the piece. They catch your ear early and refuse to let go. In addition, my favorite part of the remix has to be the piano interlude that comes in at 2:10, which makes for one of the most beautiful soundscapes I’ve ever had the pleasure of losing myself in. As someone who was never a huge fan of the original version of the song, Luke Shay’s remix has helped me gain new appreciation for it and isn’t that what a good remix should do in the first place? I don’t know about you, but after two fantastic remixes in a row I can’t wait to hear some original material from one of the most talented up-and-coming producers in the scene.
