For five consecutive years, Pretty Lights, AKA Derek Smith, performed at Colorado’s word renowned Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and every year, his act has been getting bigger and better. After a unique tour in 2013 that had Smith performing with a live band, people wondered how he could possibly top last year’s tour with this year’s. Unsurprisingly, it looks like Pretty Lights might just pull it off.
Pretty Lights announced that he’s going to be returning to Colorado’s Red Rocks for two back-to-back nights alongside 13 members of the Colorado Symphony.
New life will be brought into the new music, I’ve been working on and my older work via remixing, via The Analog Future Band, and via the sounds of live symphonic composition in the most acoustically beautiful venue anywhere. Red Rocks is such a powerful and beautiful place. I have a profound respect for the honor that it is to perform there.
Despite the fact that Pretty Lights’ dates coincide with local residents’ complaints about excessive amounts of bass coming from the venue, Smith’s performances remains as one of the most anticipated events of the summer.
