Wow! Not much else can describe Skrillex and Diplo’s stellar and amazing performance at day 3 of Ultra Music Festival. The duo celebrated their world premiere festival performance of JACK U with a diverse and eclectic set that only these two could provide, driven by some never ending, ever rising tribal and bass infused sounds, this performance will rank as one of the best of this year’s Ultra. To celebrate their performance we even listed 5 reasons as to why they dominated Ultra, here’s the first 3:
Recess
The album that requires no introduction, Recess was without a doubt one of the albums to be played at Ultra this weekend. With the recent return of Skrillex material to the world, Jack U’s set was full of screeching bass-packed bliss from Recess including “Stranger”, the title track with Fatman Scoop, “Recess”, both collaborations from the album with the Ragga Twins and “Ease My Mind”, which has a brilliant bootleg courtesy of GTA on the way, and other new Skrillex jams. Fittingly, the two also played Skrillex’s remix with Milo & Otis and Kill The Noise of “NRG”.
Old School Hip-Hop
As of late in particular, old school hip-hop tracks being dropped by DJs at major festivals has become somewhat of a trend. Jack U made sure to keep the vibes easy going by unleashing periodic hip-hop anthems like Party Favor’s flip of DJ Kool’s “Let Me Clear My Throat” to current tracks like “My Nigga” by YG.Diplo’s Mad Decent
Diplo himself is on top of his game as usual, bringing a new Major Lazer ID and his own signature anthems to the table with “Revolution”, “Earthquake” and everybody’s favorite twerk anthem “Express Yourself”, which became well acquainted with “Bangarang” as the two were mashed so to speak during the set. Diplo was sure to highlight a few tracks from his urban-style label including Elliphant’s “Revolusion”.
