Your EDM’s Collection Conspectus Chapter #2

ConspectusCollection-logo-blk

After officially commencing the Conspectus Chapters of Your EDM’s Collection last week, we have the second installment rearing and ready to go, just like many of you for are the weekend. Same procedure as before, except there’s on twist, but we won’t get to that until the end. Music from all over the place is highlighted, even to the reaches of nu-disco and a form of hybrid trap that is just too darn ill. Let’s get rolling then, shall we? And no, I didn’t mean it that way.

Chapter 2:

We’re starting off in the depths with “Hold On” by Miguel Alcobia whose Pure Funk Records single will have you gripping to your speakers for quite a lengthy musical expedition. The eight-and-a-half minute’s go by in a flash with a fanciful composition that is accompanied by extremely tranquil vocals. This one is worth the purchase.

La Felix comes next with his remix of the Australian DCUP‘s track “Sommeone Told Me.” It’s California groove shares itself with the original, along with the vivacious vocals that eventually morph into Daft Punk-esque robotic caroling. The lyrical content isn’t anything upbeat, but the dichotomy between the musical elements and content makes for a freeing experience. It’s rather symbolic, I think.

Ready to go a completely different direction from our last two tracks? No matter your answer we’re getting into “Bad Girls Need Love Too” from Hipskaker. It’s a dirty twerk slumper that makes gnarly use of vocal chopping/effects in conjunction with other elements more associated with hip-hop, some ratchet hip-hop, but hip-hop nonetheless. This is our first free download of the bunch and from here on out all the music is provided freely.

Imogen Heap is such a talent. So is Artec, who’s remix of “Wait It Out” landed on our Soundcloud page just yesterday. It starts out as a progressive vocal edit in the intro, but switches into some chilled out dubstep. It’s certainly not what you would be expecting while you are flowing along in the beginning; it’s a nice surprise though. But I ruined it, sorry! Maybe since it’s free you will feel a little better about the situation.

I know some people won’t dig this, but they will be missing out. “Shot A Fire” is such a secular song; the unique sound that JayCeeOh, Deejay Theory and Steve1der were able to pull off. It’s like neurohop, meets jungle meets dancehall meets trap. Many of your minds will be bent by the bassy production and that’s okay. You just have to roll with this one.
