Route 94’s ‘My Love’ Replaces ‘Happy’ For UK No. 1 Single

The Route 94 story is one we seem to see repeatedly in EDM. Coming from seemingly out of nowhere, the 20 year old London-based producer has enjoyed support from Annie Mac, Skream and Benga. Now, Rowan Jones will be celebrating after his track My Love has shot straight to No. 1, while accomplishing the impressive feat of releasing Pharrell Williams’s iron grip on the top spot.

“I didn’t see it coming,” he told OfficialCharts.com. “I’m absolutely over the moon! I never thought ‘I’m gonna write a massive Number 1’ or a pop hit, or whatever, I just wrote it, and what happened just happened. I’ll be celebrating by going out for some food with my girlfriend and then throwing a MASSIVE party, so everyone come and get involved!”

Route 94 takes his name from the road that links Chicago (the home of house) and Detroit (the home of techno). Like his selected moniker, My Love holds an impressive and infectious middle ground between commercial and deep house. The piano thuds, ominous bass and delicate, plucky electro keys are uplifted with Jess Glynne’s strong vocals which help provide this radio friendly hit.

My Love also holds the record for being the fastest selling single of 2014 so far. At this rate, we hope that more is to come from Route 94.
