Data is constantly collected by The Echo Nest, whose services provide information for companies like MTV and Spotify. One of their studies brought about the information regarding each state’s favorite musical project, whether it be band/group or solo artist. These statistics were taken from a sample and the map shows the artists that are listened to proportionally more frequently in a particular state than in all of the country. It’s certainly interesting to see the differences in regions. There were some names that came as a surprise; the most surprising being Matchbox Twenty. But hey, they do kick ass. In dealing with dance music,names like David Guetta and James Blake made the cut nabbing two East Coast states and Bonobo took California.
