Oceana County Judge Denies AEG’s Request to Join Electric Forest Organizers as a Plaintiff in Ongoing Lease Dispute

Yesterday, an Oceana County Judge denied AEG‘s request to join a lawsuit filed against the Double JJ Resort, home of the Electric Forest Festival. The Double JJ Resort, and their owner, Progressive Resorts LLC refuse to honor the festival’s 20 year lease, which was signed in 2010. Had Judge Terrence R. Thomas approved the request by AEG, the world’s second largest presenter of live music events, would have joined the case as a plaintiff against Progressive Resorts LLC.

Progressive claims that when the Double JJ Resort property was sold due to a court order in November, the contract between Electric Forest and the property was deemed null and void. AEG contested this by stating the lease was party of collateral and Progressive must honor the contract.

Despite the ongoing lawsuit, Electric Forest officials have confirmed that the festival will go on as planned.
