With Ultra Music Festival nearing so quickly, we bring you our next artist profile. In past years he has become a mainstream radio star, and has played festivals far and near. We present you, Afrojack.
What is going to make this Ultra Music Festival special?
I will be launching my debut album, which is huge for me. It’s been a while in the making – it had to be perfect, and it’s something I am really proud to share with my fans and the Ultra crowd. I’ve worked with a number of people over the years, but releasing your own album is different and super special – doing it during Ultra seemed a natural fit. I can’t wait to play my new tracks for the crowd.
What can fans expect from you in your Ultra Music Festival set?
This year will probably be the biggest year for me yet, musically. When you’ve been working so hard on material, you notice the sound develops and you creatively evolve. I’m really happy with the album and it’s dope I get to get feedback from some of the biggest dance fans on the planet.
How does the excitement for Ultra Music Festival compare to others?
I think because of the album, it’s more exciting than those in the past, although it has a lot to live up to as the past years have been awesome. When you’ve been working so diligently on something, and you’re finally happy with it, it’s an incredible feeling to be able to share it with others so I think that’s why I’m especially excited.
Who will do you think will have a break out set at Ultra Music Festival?
Martin Garrix is set for big things. He’s a good friend and I’m really proud of what he’s achieved. I have a lot of respect for the music he makes. I love his track ‘Animals.’
What song do you think will be played the most at Ultra Music Festival?
I hope some of my new tracks; either ‘Ten Feet Tall’ or a club track or remix that I’m working on with Thirty Seconds To Mars. Ultra isn’t about what song plays the most. The best thing about Ultra is the collection of incredible music and talent that come together to celebrate dance music. That’s what is important.
