New-to-the-scene producer Silverback is making waves with his remix of Disclosure’s “Latch.”
Sam Smith’s sweet & sultry vocals are arguably one of the greatest parts of the original track, and I’m glad that Silverback chose to keep them in as much as possible – they add a fantastic atmosphere to the track that is very difficult to reproduce. However, a dubstep remix of something so sweet is bound to turn dirty. Utilizing chopped up vocals and synths, the remix does a good job of keeping close to the original. A trap breakdown doesn’t hurt either, and Silverback is able to roll in those 808s and higher register synths seamlessly with the melody. This one’s free, so get it!
