Pittsburg’s Buku broke it off for his latest release, the Down EP, which is out now on Pilot Records. The three track EP is a lively genre bending journey through bass music with all of the buttery percussive rhythm that has inspired YourEDM‘s spot in the Buku fan boy club.
The EP starts off with the title track “Down,” a bouncy twerk style tune that contains some serious swagger. The 100bpm number is driven by hard hitting 808s and off the grid grooved out percussion for all of your dance floor needs. A laser like melody floats in-between the beat and crescendos into a big pitch bending drop that will have you bouncing all around the club.
Next off is the teaser track for the EP, “Click Clack”. This one is modeled after a more sinister hip hop vibe with all the same rhythmic grooves to keep the party bouncing. The track opens up into a big squelching mid range bass drop that nods to Buku’s earlier drumstep work.
The Down EP concludes with “No One Does,” a 126bpm progressive house track that carries all of the same dark sentiment that is contained in the previous tracks. Buku went to town on the sampling for “No One Does,” and the work paid off by giving the track a gothic Soulwax / Infected Mushroom vibe that has put us in a daze.
Down EP is now available on iTunes and Beatport, so go support dat dude Buku.
