Cappa Regime is a production trio based out of Los Angeles. Their polished, genre-defying productions earned them plays at both Coachella and EDC last year, as well as support slots for artists ranging from Koan Sound to Borgore.
Their latest release, a remix of James Egbert’s “Exit Wounds,” featuring Nina Sung, is a journey through the modern dance music soundscape. Cappa Regime manages to draw upon progressive house, dubstep, and electo influences, effortlessly blending them together to create a transcendental, heart-pumping track that will get EDM lovers of every genre on their feet.
Unlike most remixes, the trio used only the original vocal track, composing the rest of the song from scratch. They included elements like live guitar to breathe new life into the song; their final product is truly a departure from the original.
Cappa Regime already has 5 tracks ready to be released in the first quarter of 2014, including collaborations with hip-hop greats like Moe Green and Del The Funky Homosapien (one of his first electronic collaborations since his work with The Gorillaz). 2014 seems to be the year where barriers between EDM genres will begin to crumble, and Cappa Regime have already proven that they are at the forefront of that movement.
