Social media has been on fire over the recent hike in ticket price for Las Vegas’ Electric Daisy Carnival. The June festival saw general admission tickets bump from $289, before fees, in 2013 to $345 in 2014. Following an onslaught of negative criticism from the EDM community, Insomniac‘s Pasquale Rotella has offered to provide an accurate breakdown of how the cost of tickets is applied to putting on the festival:
Attention Headliners! Due to demand, we are making our “Early Owl Presale” on Monday, December 2 the OFFICIAL on sale date for EDC Vegas. All three-day general admission tickets will be available for $345 + fees until all tickets are sold, and there will NOT be another on sale after Monday. I know there’s been a lot of talk about the price of tickets this year, and I always appreciate your feedback. I’m working on a chart that shows the cost breakdown for what it takes to produce EDC Vegas so you can see exactly where your hard-earned money goes. As always, thanks for your support!
For those of you who are juggling holiday expenses and an EDC ticket, the payment plan will be available again this year:
Just wanted to let you all know that we’ll be reintroducing our payment plan for Headliners that need a little extra help with tickets. This year, you’ll be able to pay for your EDC Vegas experience in 5 equal installments. All fees will be rolled into your 1st payment, so that one will be a little higher. Don’t forget that all remaining tickets go on sale at 12 noon PST, so set your reminders now. I also want to give a special shout-out to all the positive voices in our community. You’re always there to support, and I want to make sure I’m always supporting you in everything I do. Keep spreading that love, and I’ll see you all under the electric sky!

Many people forget that promoters, journalists, and DJ’s are just the biggest fans who often work for little or no money in order to watch the EDM scene thrive. Without the hard work, detailed organization, and sacrifices made by these people, there is no EDM community.
