Last month, we reported on how Deadmau5 had befriended a young fan who had pledged to draw a Deadmau5 drawing every day until he got to meet his idol. Although he has since left Twitter, it seems that “good guy deadmu5” is committed to continuing the goodwill.
Last Friday, XS club-goers in Los Vegas were treated to a surprise 2-hour opening set from the producer before the scheduled artist, Wolfgang Gartner, took the stage. And while we’ve all heard reports on the ridiculous payouts for DJs to play at Las Vegas nightclubs, Deadmau5 did this set for free. 
According to EDMTunes, Deadmau5 is a close friend of Jesse Waits, a managing partner of XS. After an unrelated private performance, the producer cruised over to the Wynn (where the club is located) to have dinner with Waits. When the idea was jokingly brought up, he decided to go for it. Cue a mass migration to XS.
No word on whether the spontaneous performance will turn into a regular gig, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
