The south end of Chicago’s Grant Park just received a very attractive donation from the organizer’s of Lollapalooza, which will make it one of the most attractive public spaces in America. The money will go toward a 3 acre skatepark and mini amphitheater located between, “11th Street and Roosevelt Road, Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive.” Lollapalooza’s $5 million contribution will further augment the privately raised $15million and $1M allocated from the Near South TIF district. The concrete park will be designed by UIC School of Art and Design associate professor Dan Peterman and constructed by architectural firm AltamanuThis will be a welcomed addition to the community and is a clear sign of Lollapalooza’s dedication to the city.
