Play Me Records has been one of the premiere dance music labels over the past years, so when I heard Unix‘s electro house anthem “Barbie Girl” I was not surprised by the top-shelf quality. I could very easily have imagined seeing this released on Wolfgang’s label, but Play Me has supported Unix before so that’s no surprise either.
What is a surprise is the talent this 19 year-old producer has. The sanguine “Barbie Girl” is a majorly upbeat house tune that is reminiscent of Mord Fustang. The thick synths create some space around the fabulously tasteful chopped vocals and the assortment of sounds that fill out the rest of the mix is astonishing. So much talent from the UK producer Unix!
