A shockwave is quite literally a moving disturbance of energy carrying a potentially destructive force as such, Black Tiger Sex Machine and Snails newest tune Shockwave could not be more aptly named. A soft atmospheric melody builds the initial pressure, ushering in the blast wave which barrels over the listener after a brief respite. The intro is very impressive and is reminiscent of The M Machine with its space and progression.
The Shockwave itself is a unique rhythmic cacophony of destruction. It’s jarring and sudden, but absolutely fresh. Describing it is incredibly difficult as it uses a heavy percussive sound with the closest likeness of raindrops being fired at supersonic speeds into a metal plate. The sound design is on point and the entire arrangement gives the drop a completely alien yet enjoyable feel when compared to the melodic intro and bridge. To be totally honest the song will lose a bit of appeal to those who are stuck on the mainstream electro-house formula but that’s why it’s so damn awesome. In a genre stagnating with pitch kicks and festival drops, BTSM and Snails have developed a weapon that bangs on a different design. Be sure to check Shockwave below.
