Months ago we heard talk of an unnamed Fox feature film that Diplo is working on which has just now had it’s director announced; David Katzenberg. David will head the EDM film that is said to be “8 Mile meets Project X” that was written by Adam Weinstock and Andy Jones. David’s resume is substantial; with already having done many MTV series like “The Hard Times of RJ Berger”, which he co-created with his business partner Seth Grahame-Smith. Their production company KatzSmith is developing future films like “Beetlejuice 2” and remakes of “It” and “Gremlins”.
Diplo’s involvement revolves around his performance at a music festival that three teens are attempting to attend. Diplo will also be an executive producer alongside Kevin Kusatsu. Hollywood has multiple dance music films underway, but this is set to be the biggest. Their attempt to be relevant in dealing with the modern electronic music craze just may serve them incredibly well. Because honestly, how many teens do you think will buy tickets to go see a Diplo movie?
