After hearing his intense remix of “Barcode” by Blood Diamonds and his ‘Horns Of The Apocalypse’ EP, which featured tracks like “Beast Mode ft. Del The Funky Homosapien” it became rather obvious that Figure was an artist to keep my eye on. In addition to these stellar releases, Figure has made a habit of releasing a ghoulish gut-busting LP just in time for Halloween. The latest in his series, ‘Monsters Vol. 4’ picks up right where last year’s album left off and rather valiantly displaying that when it comes to celebrating all Hallows Eve in style Figure is not messing about.
Monsters starts off with an intro that feels slightly reminiscent of a scary movie with a narrator inviting you into Figure‘s haunted house of bass. This album goes hard from start to finish and blew this basshead’s mind on multiple occasions. The intro and interludes do an excellent job of building an eery atmosphere that permeates and lingers throughout the entirety of the LP. With songs like “Center Of Hell ft. Helicopter Showdown”, “The Blob ft. Dirty Deeds” and “The Living Dead”, Monsters Vol. 4 will wow you with its sheer energy and deep bass. The raw ferocity continues with Figure bringing in some beautiful vocals from Lexi Norton on “Are You Afraid Of The Dark” which made it one of many favorites on the album. Also impressive and worth noting were the creepy clown samples on “Ade Due Damballa” that further heighten the tension of the release until finally concluding with help of Travis Peavler on “Cocytus”, a short but vigorous outro.
