When Apple releases a new operating software the internet hosts a frenzy of discussions. Some love it, some hate it, and most accept it for the overwhelmingly basic update, in color. Personal inclinations regarding iOS7 are more than appreciated, but that’s not really the point. The recent addition of iTunes Radio offers another platform for the streaming, and ideally, discovery of new music.
“It’s Apple though, they don’t care whether I find new music, they only care about my money.“- Internet Troll
Of course with a service such as iTunes Radio the ultimate goal is to top other competitor services, but at least Apple seems to be taking a decent approach. While introducing the service, Apple made a commitment that certain stations would contain tracks chosen by actual humans, not just complex algorithms that dictate station structure and song choice.
Calling these, Guest DJ Stations, there are a few big artists who have already created playlists pertinent to their current taste in music. Lucky for us, ‘Dance Music‘ on iTunes Radio has a Guest DJ station by none other than Thomas Wesley Pentz. Currently the station is boasting many Jeffree’s and Mad Decent releases, as well as Diplo’s latest track, Revolution (feat. Faustix & Imanos and Kai). Due to the unique nature of these Guest DJ stations, not only will new stations quickly emerge, but artists like Diplo will continue adding tracks over time.
Which gets us all a little closer to answering that ever present question, “I wonder what, (insert artist name here), has been listening to lately.”
