Thump, a Youtube channel that premiered earlier this year dedicated to EDM and its culture, has released the music video for Knife Party‘s track, LRAD. Taken off their Haunted House EP released earlier this year, the video for LRAD sets the stage for a type of political message referencing to the current privacy issues that are taking place in the United States. That being said, the video itself is pretty disappointing; while having the opportunity to have a deeper meaning and perhaps attempt a more respectful approach to certain political issues, it chose a safe path with a typical “LOL PRESIDENT IS ROBOT LOL CIRCLE JERK”. Sure the quality of the video itself as well as graphical work is well done, it remains difficult to overlook the previously stated issue.
And the music itself doesn’t help. If you remove the “Knife Party” from the title, LRAD can be easily confused with another generic-Epic/Animals-wannabe producing artist that has long thrown away any attempts at unique ingenuity with their roots. Well, I guess that would be Knife Party, so maybe it’s a perfect match.
You be the judge:
Don’t agree? Let’s talk about it: @Danny_YourEDM
Anything rob swire has his hands in is normally very cutting age and meaningful, and I think that will be on display with the new pendulum release, but this is one my least favorite songs on the release so I’m not really surprised.
How about some objective analysis? If you’re going to choose to write about your opinion instead, at least give some reasoning. I thought it was a cool concept.
I agree LRAD wasn’t the greatest work of Knife Party but you should realize LRAD came out in the beginning of the whole animals big room craze that happened/is happening. If you’re going to bash a song at least bash it in context with when it was made. It didn’t follow their roots but whats wrong with a producer experimenting with new sounds?
while this song isnt knife party’s greatest, i think they have enough of history of separating themselves from the rest of the genre to warrant them quite alot of respect. definitely wouldn’t place them in the same bag as every other generic dubstep artist. why bother to post this up here if you have nothing but negative things to say about it?
edm videos are never meant to make sense their made for fun:) soo dnt make a bigg about this, its knife party and awesome b movie music video 🙂 enjoy.
yall niggas trippen that was a cool sci-fi mini thirller video!
if you really think about it with their haunted house ep this is the only song with a drop like epic and animals thay are still putting awsome music together just made one song kinda simple and like others
knife party is amazing at what they do, if you have better ideas to become one of the top producers internationally then why dont you you tell them personally….in my mind, i think they may disagree with what you have to say.
That was a great music video I’m really starting to not like your EDM your opinions don’t reflect true EDM culture your just mainstream bullshit
this writer is a fucking moron. animal ripoff? you have got to be fucking kidding me. how long have you been writing for this blog?
