As many of you may already know, Electric Zoo 2013 has created quite a commotion throughout the electronic dance music community as a result of its early termination in response to two deaths and several critical safety issues during the first two days of the weekend. Only days after the last set of E Zoo 2013, reports have surfaced stating that during the first two days of the festival, 31 individuals were arrested along with the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl.
The 31 arrests represent a slew of safety issues prevalent over the weekend including drug sales, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and possession of controlled substance with sources stating that at least two of these arrests pertain to felony charges. The release of these charges continue to add to the heaps of articles and testimonies speaking out toward the general lack of security present at this year’s event.
As for the young girl, according to sources, Randall Island’s Park Alliance received news that over the weekend a young girl woke up under a van in a parking lot with her pants undone and bruises and scratches on her legs. After admittance to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell, medical personnel determined that the young girl had indeed been sexually assaulted.

…..sigh
How did the girl even get in? It’s 18+ for a reason.
Just ridiculous man. Can’t we all just party and take care of one another? Isn’t there code of EDM?
Damn New Yorkers, shut this down in that state. CA & NV are still fine.
that’s why they should stick to 18+ little teens should not be in places they don’t belong! but still wtf keep the plur that’s all we ask.
no bad news about chi town fests this summer either….least some places can still do it right.
Seems like NY can’t handle their shit. Bring it on down to the West Coast!
so sad
Reading these articles are funny lol. The news acts like MDMA and other shit is uncommon.
once again, the girl gets blamed for being sexually assaulted. 18 plus for a reason? how would this be any different if she wasn’t underage?
Everyone has to stop with the victim blaming. I would bet that sexual assault or similar disorderly conduct happens more often than it is reported. It is unlikely this is a problem in only one particular state.
Ratchet ass New York c’mon
Thats why this should happen here in chicago.
this has nothing to do with it being in NY dummies. This shit happens constantly everywhere it just isn’t reported. Ezoo is a BIG festival and got shut down because NEW YORK took control of it with people’s safety in mind.
I’m sorry, but ‘;d really like to point out that it just says the girl woke up, didn’t know where she was an was a bit roughed up so she went to the hospital and they claimed she was “sexually assaulted”…and I won’t jump to conclusions, but if I had a nickel for every girl that had sex when she was drunk then claimed it was assault, I’m be swimming in cash right now.
Not that what happened to her is ok but the event was 18+ and she should’n have been there to begin with. The lack of security isn’t a problem here, people overdoing it and not knowing what they’re taking is. People should be responsible for themselves, they are adults after all. It awful what happened, but no one made anyone do anything they didn’t want to. People need to educate themselves of what they are putting into their own bodies and know their limits and when to say enough. Party safe!
whatever happened to the EDM code years ago when we were proud to go to a concert and that the difference was we took care of each other, one stranger to another. Look here we are turning on each other and making it a ‘this state did this and the other state this happened”. AND pls KEEP the KIDDIEs out of here. It is for this reason I stopped going to outdoor festivals.. the young crowd was out of control. At least the nightclub security keeps the age thing under control.
thank god TW is 21+ young people always bring more problem!
Electric Zoo 2013 has become the media’s platform for highlighting the terrible things that happen at all large festivals. It’s sad that we, as humans, allows these horrible things to occur, but we must learn from these instances and become more aware of their happenings if we’re to move forward as an EDM community.
So many more positive experiences occurred at E-Zoo, yet they’re shadowed by the negative experiences.
how many people were there? 20,000?+ you cant prevent 1 bad thing from happening.
Unfortunately there are bad people in the world, no matter the place, genre of music or people involved. If I read it right, there were 2 felonies and 29 misdemeanors – that happens in 30 minutes at Mardigras in New Orleans. I understand you are selling clicks and ad space here, so a catchy title is important, but it doesn’t help the EDM scene to point fingers at the festival for a sexual assault. There were 99,985 people at EZoo that had a great time and didn’t have a run in with the law….that must count for something.
We all need to look out for one another. Educate yourself and others, especially those younger than you. Use good judgement and stay safe. Personal responsibility is the only way to prevent deaths and crimes.
Very very sad. There is a reason is it 18 +. I feel very sorry to the girl as well as the promoters, they have only done everything and all on their powers to make it a safe event and can’t control some of these people who make bad bad decisions and the promoters should not be accountable. Very upsetting to hear all of this aftermath. People need to be responsible or not go
