Recently at LIV in Miami, Calvin Harris fired back at one clubber who called him a “sellout”. Stopping the music and getting on the mic, he gives a memorable retort.
“Why do you come to a fucking Calvin Harris show where Calvin Harris is DJing and don’t want to hear a fucking Calvin Harris record you dumb fucking bitch.”
The man has a point. He then goes on to play “Feel So Close“, the offending record. Critically acclaimed with nine out of ten tracks on his last album making it into the UK top ten singles, he’s highly revered- yet there will always be the folks who have problems with success.
Serves her right. derp.
There are a number of top 20 DJ’s who are selling out right now. Calvin Harris isn’t one of them.

Miami Beach is one of those places where people don’t go to see an artist perform. They go there to be seen. And while they’re being seen, they like to listen to same lame shit over and over again. Mansion has become infamous for kicking DJs off stage because they didn’t play the ‘required tracks’.

For being the highest paid DJ in forbes this year (~$58m) I don’t think anyone has room to talk about a “sell out” because its business, if it wasn’t, he wouldn’t be where he is at and would still be underground barely making ends meet, all this…..considering YOU (the people) set him there by listening.liking.attending.supporting him.

Why are people worried about what others achieve? What Calvin make like 40 Million this year? Good for him… Any DJ that can make some coins for what they do, BRAVO. If you don’t like them don’t support them. It’s DJ’s that don’t make it that hate on the ones that do. Calvin should have invited them into the booth and let them do a 15 minute set with him, giving them their 15 minutes of Fame.

djs & artists do not sell out, their music become popular & commercial through radio & sales which in turn makes the tracks famous and them famous, if it was soooo easy to sell out everyone would do it. on the subject of Calvin Harris…he is a pop star, he started out a pop star making electronic pop music, his bio states he always wanted to be a pop star and be on top of the pops (an old UK chart show). he decided through the success of his music to become a dj as it was easier to perform , he could make more money and play more shows instead of being on stage with a few keyboards and a microphone, so I really do not understand people who throw the ‘sold out’ tag at him, maybe drop the ignorance and learn some history and facts first.
I think he knows that girl had a point and that’s why he got so angry. Nothing will make a person angrier than a truth that they hate about themselves. I think to a large extent he’s sacrificed being an artist to make the big bucks. Also calling anyone a “stupid fucking bitch” is vulgar and low down. He didn’t have to defend himself by cussing her out. He used to be just about my favorite DJ, but NOT anymore. It’s all gone to his head and from this scene he appears to have transformed into a jaded and really ugly human being. Disgusted. (I live in Miami used to go to south beach all the time before everyone went so mainstream and it all started to sound the same, saw Calvin Harris way back in 2010 and it was amazing. The time of his best music in my opinion).
