Kaskade Survives Slightly Strange Interview With Rainn Wilson

Who would’ve thought that Dwight K. Schrute, I mean Rainn Wilson, would host an interview with the legendary Kaskade (Ryan Raddon) right in the middle of LA? While it seemed promising, it was more of an educational lesson as Kaskade explained the art of electronic music to Wilson. It’s hard to tell if Rainn is actually serious or just messing with Kaskade as he compares him to Dubstep, even asking if he really makes “music”. Thankfully, Raddon does most of the talking as he describes how electronic music is a movement that is not only changing the music business, but also dominating festivals worldwide.

Perhaps the most striking question asked by Wilson is how being such a large part of edm affects Kaskade’s Mormon faith.  Despite Wilson noting the “debauchery” side of the scene, Kaskade’s response is simple: “If you love the music, then all the stuff that’s going on around it is ancillary.” Point in case, that’s why we go to these festivals and support all of these artists. Electronic dance music is perhaps the most intriguing yet misunderstood style of music but it’s because of people like Kaskade who are helping prove the positive side of this art and that it is indeed music.
