Often the front headliner of the legendary Sensation festival series, Fedde Le Grand has become an integral part of the growing EDM machine as a confident, high profile icon that expertly mixes multiple styles in his sets. From his humble beginnings as a leading Tech House producer in the mid 2000’s, Fedde‘s sound now comprises of genres such as Progressive House, Big Room, Electro, Tech House and his special mix of Tribal House that makes dance floors explode. He has managed to grab the attention of both the mainstream crowd as well as the more underground folk through his infectious spirit and his superior command of the decks. Not to be held down as a DJ, Fedde Le Grand has had an impressive stint as a producer and has known to create styles such as Electro (in his single of RAW), to Tech House (with his single of So Much Love). Working with such esteemed colleagues such as Michael Calfan, Sultan & Ned Shepperd, Nicky Romero, Denis Koyu and more, his evolving sounds have teetered him on the edge of genres, which has shown to be the grey area that produces the best music possible.

As a player in the game for countless years, his discography is expansive, with over 70 different productions that are currently known. However, some of these productions were never released and these rare gems have been tantalizing bait for music collectors. It is not surprising when an artist has a track or two up their sleeve for their own personal use, but with the sheer caliber of quality in each of Fedde‘s tracks, it becomes even more relevant to bring these pieces to the public eye. He has had an affinity to remix staple classics in house, such as Cassius‘s The Sound Of Violence, Madonna‘s Music and Erick E‘s The Beat Is Rockin’, but one particular track he remixed was an incredibly difficult and risky action to produce. While many artists usually put rock lyrics or samples into a track for a mashup/bootleg, it is incredibly rare for someone to remix a rock track and still have that consistent drive and energy needed to keep sets moving. Not shying away from the challenge, Fedde remixed the incredibly heavy single, Killing In The Name Of by rock legends, Rage Against The Machine. They, of course, are a rock/metal/rap band that originated in Los Angeles in 1991 and have become a legendary part of Rock & Roll’s illustrious history. With the intensity of RATM‘s lyrics and guitars and Fedde‘s infectious grooves and power, it is a wild combination that further bends genres in an exciting and powerful way.

Fedde Le Grand‘s interpretation starts with his signature 2010 groove (seen in spades with such examples as his bootleg to Fatboy Slim‘s Praise You), and begins with a barrage of percussive sounds underneath a notably low cut, angsty bassline. Cutting through the soundscape are furious guitar stabs with echo-like accompanying synth blips to give it an interesting flavor of Tribal sounds and Rock & Roll. As the guitar continuously repeats, upward synths lift off toward their destination as the tempo slows and slows to the tempo of the Original Mix. With three guitar hits, the rebellious lyrics come into play as fans of the group can rampage to a killer rock tune in the middle of an EDM set. As the lyrics, ‘Now ya do what they told ‘cha‘ is repeated, sudden reverb is added before the word ‘cha‘ is repeated to an amazingly brutal repeated timbre that really gives great character throughout the drop. As the famous guitar ostinato is repeated, the ferocity of Fedde‘s percussion section with the bullying bassline surprisingly compliment each other and provide a huge kick in the ass for power and drive. As a private bootleg of Fedde Le Grand, it is not available to anyone expect for the legend that is Carl Cox. But we here at Your EDM do hope that he releases this bootleg soon.

As stated before, Fedde Le Grand‘s remix of Rage Against The Machine‘s Killing In The Name Of is not released, but be sure to enjoy the video above and remember to tune in next week!
