Lady Gaga’s awaited album, ARTPOP, is approaching. With a track from the album leaking last week, music fans across the globe are becoming more eager to see what the final product will sound like. Some people have criticized Gaga, saying that she has taken it too far this time. Steve Angello has chimed in on the matter applauding Lady Gaga for her creativity.
Angello most definitely raises some valid points. There has to be an artist that takes a leap of faith in order to push something (music, in this case) forward. Just think about electronic music. The first time someone took electricity, manipulated it to make sounds and then called it “music” must have been thought to be insane by their colleagues. Look where we are now, electronic music is taking the world by storm.
For all I know Lady Gaga could be creating the future of music. The only difference is that, instead of being Elisha Gray (father of the synthesizer) or Thaddeus Cahill (inventor of the first synthesizer) in a basement looking to create a new form of instrument, she finds herself in the limelight. Being in the limelight these days means everyone is watching and judging you each step you take. The boundaries broken and comfort zones invaded by ARTPOP could, in the end, lead to something even bigger. Only time will tell.
There’s a difference between being a creative, forward thinking artist, and just being a weirdo hugging an ice cube while naked. I’m still with the Mau5 on this one.
Didn’t Zedd produce a good chunk of her new album anyway? Along with Madeon. I’m sure some of her album will be her normal weirdness, but in order to stay relevant she had to recruit professionals.
Being avant garde for avant gardeness’s sake isn’t good. Art should be pleasing. If it IS weird or difficult to understand, it better have a good meaning or depth behind it, or else it’s just stupid.
I think you’d have to research this Marina Abramovic person and her technique before you can judge Lady Gaga’s for making the video. Lady Gaga is manufactured and she irks me often, but as a big artist it isn’t easy to have total creative control when you work under labels/managers/creative directors, etc, no matter how “BIG” and “ON TOP” the media makes these artists look. These artists aren’t totally free to do everything they want. They have to constantly be in agreement with all these people they work with because each creative decision they make can mean thousands.
Get off your Knees Steve Angello, I bet you think Guetta is “creative” as well…Stop sucking dick for approval and playing pre-mixed sets, your starting to look like more of a joke than the people you are defending!
I Know Zedd Have one finger in it!
oh god most of you people who commented are just so ignorant smh.
