The X Factor and America’s Got Talent creator, Simon Cowell, took the world by surprise when he announced his DJ contest show back in 2012. Thankfully for us, the show never saw the light of day, but it has now been revealed that when the production was still a reality, Simon approached famous British producer and DJ Fatboy Slim to be a judge. Norman Quentin Cook just revealed that and more to the Sun. Going as far as criticizing Simon:
“As dance music gets taken over by people like Cowell, it becomes about being famous and money — the nasty side which I think for years it was relatively free of. Kids grow up thinking [that] to be a DJ you’ve got to be sexy and bling … it’s not about that. I’m glad that’s one bandwagon he didn’t jump on.”
Norman added that he never wanted it to happen, telling Simon: “Please don’t do it. It’ll ruin it for the rest of us.”

I can’t even fathom in my mind how this show would have even been taken seriously. So you’re telling me they would have gathered a bunch of DJs to have them perform and be judged by a line of people who know absofuckinglutely nothing about the culture (minus Fatboy Slim of course). What? I almost wish this show would air solely to watch all of the negative backlash it would generate, but thankfully even that’s no longer an option. Thank you Fatboy Slim.
How would you even judge a competition like this? I don’t understand how that would work.
