We’re sad to report that the scene has witnessed another tragic incident. Live Nation has just reported that on opening night of its newly acquired festival, HARD Summer, one festival-goer suffered from cardiac distress. Authorities suspect the fatal condition to have been caused by an overdose. Flying Lotus, one of the headlining acts of the night, even took to twitter to express his reaction to witnessing the tragedy.
Damn. I saw a guy die before I played my set. Heavy.

Our hearts go out to those affected by the incident, and as always we urge you to look out for yourself and others at these events.
You can read Live Nation’s statement here:
During Saturday evening’s event held at Los Angeles State Historic Park, a patron experienced cardiac distress and sadly passed away at the hospital. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Our guests’ safety and well being is of paramount importance at every Live Nation event. We have skilled EMT’s, police, and security staff deployed on site to respond to any emergency situation and last night members of this emergency team were with this patron and administering CPR within two minutes of notification. We work closely with local health and safety authorities to plan for emergencies and set the appropriate staffing levels for each event.

my respects..

Sad. 🙁
RIP
That sucks and all for him and his family, but that’s what happens when fuck with drugs that you are not familiar with – not to mention at a rave where over heating and dehydration are commonplace.
Hopefully, this doesn’t deter people from attending HARD Summer for the following year; it’s such a great show put on by great people.
Cardiac arrest and overdose? Sounds like someone was slipped a research chem disguised as acid. : Goddamn sleazy dealers >[.
people really need to start getting their drugs tested before they take them! Its not that expensive and sometimes there are companies that do it for real. ROLL RESPONSIBLY PEOPLE!
Deaths like this highlight the need for drugs to be taken out of the control of dealers and to be regulated properly by individual governments. It might not have stopped this individual death, but there is no doubt in my mind that it would save countless others. The war on drugs has not stopped demand for drugs. How many more deaths are needed until we accept that the current system of prohibition isn’t working?

R.I.P….Having said that I just want to say…I am appalled at the comments…we are assuming guys he may have had some other issue apart from drugs.and as much as i have read about various drugs.a very rare case has been reported….which again is not yet proven scientifically……I am not supporting any cause that i leave it to alll….but oddly enough the biggest 2 culprits for deaths are nicotine and alcohol…..you can look it up online.
Died doing what he most loved, rave. We know he was happy. Rip
Everyone is pointing fingers at the dealers when in ultimatum, the blame is on the taker for not testing whatever it was that he took.

More death at a hospital from Hard Summer
Let me introduce many of you to The Bunk Police! There should be no finger pointing! Regardless of what was consumed, it was probably too much! Slow down and know your limits my friends!
My Respects to him. R.I.P and more importantly KNOW YOUR LIMITS PEOPLE.
Another story for others to talk down on our scene. LA needs to get the shit together, just what we need is the LA times to have more ammo in their arsenal against the EDM scene. Please just be responsible people. Not saying don’t party, or don’t have fun. Just do it responsibly and don’t keep giving the haters more things to talk about.
reading the highlights to this is a joke… this person took to much.. it was an OD.. this has nothing to do with the government, nothing to do about dealers or getting drugs tested…stop making everything in the world political.
Sadly, tragedies like this are too common because of drug policy and people not testing their drugs before they take them. Bunkpolice.org is an awesome organization when it comes to drug safety. Check out this upcoming documentary about the problem and the ways we can address it: whatsinmybaggie.com.
Heres an idea. Stop taking drugs. Its a crazy idea, but I think it might just work.
Hard needs to invest in some ground control like Insomniac! 😉
R.I.P Jon. Such an amazing person. I will always remember your smile
